Engineered Flooring
Constructed from multiple wood layers that comprised typically of plywood,HD or another similar material with a hard wood surface. Engineered floors are the modern alternative to solid wood. It offer several practical advantages without compromising on the authentic real wood look and feel. Its layered construction is more stable than solid wood whilst also offering the attractive benefit that can be used in various area where solid wood is simply not practical or even feasible. Areas such as conservataries, wet rooms or long spanning hall ways, and will not be as affected by humidity changes in the environment. This dimensional stability means there is less need to accommodate for seasonal movement when installing. This allows for a floating style installation, some with a click system, making for a simple installation.
JC Mel offering two types of Engineered Flooring: Unfinished Floor Boards and Prefinished Floor Boards.
Unfinished Floor Boards
The Flooring is made from imported high quality select grade European Oak. It has the unique natural, elegant look that includes grain configurations, knots and colour variation, creating the feel of authentic floor. The hard wood top has been sanded down with no finish, no treatment. It allow you to get the exact finish, stain colour and look you desire. There is a big range of oils and lacquers available, you will be sure to find one perfect for you. Applying the finish after flooring is laid is another advantage of protection in the joints of each plank.
Prefinished Floor Boards
Hardwood planks have been designed and engineered for stability. Being far more stable than solid timber planks it will not swell or shrink given changes in humidity and it means that much wider boards with more interesting finishes can be produced. It can be laid as a floating floor which is a much easier installation. Most hardwood timber flooring are available prefinished from the factory either its natural colour or wood stains. It also means a reduced installation time. With the modern finishes they are highly resistant to scratches and stains.
